Fashioned from children's stuffed animals. A dark subject covered in bright wrapping. Symbolizing the hole in my heart and the ticking time bomb that it feels like. (25inx8inx18in)
The project began with sketch-based planning, originally envisioned as a 3D triptych. As the concept evolved, I centered the design around the form and symbolism of the heart. Materials were sourced primarily from Savers, where I collected stuffed animals and pillows to repurpose, giving them new life and aligning with the theme of reconstruction and renewal.
Each element was chosen for its visual and tactile resemblance to the heart’s anatomy. A pulsing light and vibrating motor were later integrated to simulate a rhythmic heartbeat, bringing the piece to life through motion and sound. During critiques, viewers were drawn to the softness of the materials and often expressed surprise at the lifelike pulse embedded within the form.
